Virya – one of Péter Gálhidy's grass sculptures is so titled. The word has its roots in Sanskrit, and is the stem of words like virulent and many others meaning energy, effort, living force. Power to keep you alive, force that gives you a positive charge, energy to make you better. The grass blades, fresh buds, leaves, blossoms – sculpted, painted or otherwise reproduced – tell their own story about Nature in a way that's quite out of the ordinary.
The works of Imre Bukta, Péter Gálhidy, Gyula Konkoly, Csaba Nagy, Péter Ujházi, and Éva Varga
The exhibition was opened by poet and literary translator Gábor Zsille, as part of the events of the 7th Art Collector's Night in Pintér Sonja Gallery of Modern Art on 28th February, 2008.
